In his papal encyclical, Laudato Si, Pope Francis comments that “we were not meant to be inundated by cement, asphalt, glass and metal, and deprived of physical contact with nature.” In the city of Milwaukee, we are blessed with an abundance of beautiful parks and green spaces, including miles of public access to the beaches and protected shorelines along the ecological crown jewel of our city-Lake Michigan. Yet there are children living in our city today who have grown up not two miles from the calming and awe-inspiring vistas of our Great Lake, but who have never even seen it. Come join a discussion to explore the root causes and effects of nature deprivation, the principles of environmental justice, and the single most important thing that you can do to help save the planet. Michael Larson, an Environmental Non-Profit Professional will lead this discussion.
