Godwin Friesen, age 22, is from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and is 1 of the top 3 finalists in the 2020-21-22 PianoArts North American Piano Competition and Music Festival. He now advances to the Concerto Round to compete for Best Performance of a Duo with a Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra violinist or cellist where he will perform Dimitri Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 2. During a recent recital for his Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, her performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concerto No. 21 conducting the orchestra and improvising the cadenza in Mozart’s style. During the North American 2018 competition, Godwin won the Audience Communication Award, and in the 2021 North American semifinal round, he won Best Performance of a Work by J.S.
