Holiday Greetings from the Ada Trio! This season we bring the joys of good cheer and good music. The first offering we have is by Antonín Dvořák with his Miniatures for Two Violins and Viola, Op. 75a. These four character pieces were composed to be played by Dvořák, his housemate, and his housemate’s teacher after Dvořák’s original composition for the group, the Terzetto, proved to be too difficult for his housemate. Then follows the elegant Trio in C Major, Op. 87 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Although it contains a humorous, syncopated Scherzo movement, the other three movements are great examples of musical art that reaches for the sublime. Rounding out our program will be selected holiday music.
